Phyu Phyu Finds Her Way Home

In the heart of Mandalay, amidst the rubble and heartbreak left by the earthquake, a tiny white dog wandered near a tea shop—alone and unsure. Her name is Phyu Phyu, which means “White White” in Burmese.
Phyu Phyu used to ride everywhere with her owner in the back of a tuk tuk. They were inseparable—a familiar sight in the neighborhood. But when the devastating earthquake struck, her world changed forever. Her beloved owner was among the many lives lost that day. Suddenly, Phyu Phyu was left to fend for herself.
But even in tragedy, kindness survives.
One day, a local Oway—the Burmese word for tuk tuk driver—recognized her. He remembered seeing Phyu Phyu with her owner and asked about her. When he learned her person had died in the quake, he gently brought her home and made her part of his family.
Caring for animals in Mandalay right now is incredibly difficult. Food is scarce, and prices have soared. So the driver came to our LSTSI office—not asking for help for himself, but for Phyu Phyu.
Thanks to YOU, we were able to help.
Because of your support, we gave him the food and supplies he needed to care for her. In a city still reeling from disaster, love like his—and yours—is what gives animals like Phyu Phyu a second chance.
Now, she’s back to riding in a tuk tuk, ears flapping in the breeze, safe and cherished once again.
Thank you for being the reason her story didn’t end in heartbreak.
