From Brownie in Yangon to Sparkles in Mandalay, your support is helping dogs thrive across Myanmar.

When you support Let’s Save The Strays International, you are doing more than preventing future litters through Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR).

You are helping dogs suffering from painful, treatable conditions receive the care they need.

Brownie was one of those dogs.

When the LSTSI team first met Brownie at a monastery in Yangon, he was suffering from severe mange, fleas, and ticks. Much of his coat was gone, and his skin was inflamed and uncomfortable.

Because of your support, Brownie was neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated with Bravecto. Cost? About $30 for everything.

The transformation was remarkable.

The dog in the before photos and the dog in the after photos are the same dog.

But Brownie’s story is about more than one dog.

At Let’s Save The Strays International, community engagement is one of the pillars of our work. We call the dedicated feeders and caregivers who watch over free-roaming dogs in their neighborhoods our Community Animal Guardians.

Brownie’s recovery became a teaching moment. As his coat returned and his skin healed, the people who cared for him saw firsthand that mange is treatable. In warm countries like Myanmar, mange is common among free-roaming dogs, yet many people assume it is simply part of life on the street.

Brownie showed otherwise.

In Mandalay, that lesson helped another dog.

Sparkles was a young puppy suffering from severe mange, fleas, and ticks. She was weak and anemic when Tin Tin, one of our Community Animal Guardians, recognized the signs and brought her to Dr. Kyaw and the LSTSI team for treatment.

Tin Tin knew exactly what Sparkles needed.

Sparkles received Bravecto, along with the care and nutrition she needed to recover.

While Sparkles will always have a chronic eye condition, she is now healthy, playful, and thriving. Her mange is gone, her coat has returned, and she spends her days doing what puppies should do: exploring, playing, and enjoying life.

This is what TNVR looks like when it is done well.

It is not only sterilization surgery and rabies vaccination. It is helping communities recognize suffering and understand that common conditions like mange can be treated.

Brownie received treatment because the LSTSI team recognized his suffering.

Sparkles received treatment because someone in her community recognized it too.

That is what sustainable change looks like.

Most importantly, it is what your support makes possible.

Today, Brownie is thriving in Yangon.

Sparkles is thriving in Mandalay.

And because of you, thousands more dogs across Myanmar have the opportunity to do the same.
