Community Education Program
Education is Essential to Our Work
In many low-income communities in Myanmar, no formal animal safety or public health education programs exist. Children grow up living alongside large free-roaming dog populations with little guidance.
Each year, more than 4,000 children die from rabies in Myanmar, and tens of thousands of people require emergency treatment after dog bites. In Yangon alone, more than 15,000 people receive post-exposure rabies vaccines annually.
Let's Save The Strays International believes that humane population management must be paired with education to create lasting change.

Our Education Program
We launched our first formal education program in Mandalay in January 2025 and expanded to Yangon in August 2025.
Today, our teams teach more than 100 children per month in each city in high-risk neighborhoods.
Children learn how to:
- Interact safely with street dogs
- Avoid bites and conflict
- Respond after an incident
- Recognize fear and stress in animals
- Understand the importance of spay and neuter
- Care for dogs humanely

Community Partnerships
We work closely with local government-run schools, monasteries, community leaders, parents and caregivers, street feeders, and local volunteers.
These trusted partners help coordinate sessions, reinforce lessons, and ensure long-term impact.
Why Education Matters
Without education, fear, misunderstanding, and risky behavior can lead to preventable injuries.
Through our community programs, children learn how to stay safe, respect animals, and understand why humane care matters.
Education creates safer children, reduced bite risk, greater confidence, stronger compassion, and lasting behavior change.
